Plan Work With Tasks

Projects tell you what you're working on. Tasks tell you what's next. Break the work into steps so nothing slips.

Create a task

From Tasks, add a task with a title and, optionally:

  • Description — the detail you'll forget in two weeks.
  • Project — links the task to a project, so a project's work stays together.
  • Assignee — the team member responsible, if you work with staff.
  • Due date — when it needs to be done.
  • Priority — Low, Medium, High, or Urgent.

Move it through the stages

Every task has a status: To do, In progress, In review, or Done. Move tasks across as work progresses so the current state is always obvious at a glance.

Board and list

Switch between a board, where each status is a column and you drag tasks between them, and a list, which is better for scanning many tasks at once, filtering, and sorting.

Within a column you can drag tasks to reorder them, so the top of the column is what you'll do first.

Filter down to what matters

Filter by status, priority, project, or assignee, and search by title. When a day feels crowded, filter to Urgent and High, and ignore the rest until those are clear.

Tasks and clients

If a client has a guest link to their project, you can choose whether they see the project's tasks. That turns your task list into a progress report they can check themselves — see Share Project Progress With Clients.
